Happy Onam to All Celebrating this Joyous Festival!
Well, it's a Malayalee festival, just like the other indian festivals.

Onam is the biggest and the most important festival of the state of Kerala. It is a harvest festival and is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm all over the state by people of all communities. According to a popular legend, the festival is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam. Onam is celebrated in the beginning of the month of Chingam, the first month of Malayalam Calendar (Kollavarsham). This corresponds with the month of August-September according to Gregorian Calendar. Carnival of Onam lasts from four to ten days. First day, Atham and tenth day, Thiruonam are most important of all. Popularity and presentation of rich culture of the state during the carnival made Onam the National Festival of Kerala in 1961. Elaborate feasts, folk songs, elegant dances, energetic games, elephants, boats and flowers all are a part of the dynamic festival called Onam.
The dayof Onam is decided in accordance with the legend of King Mahabali in whose honor Onam is celebrated. People believe that it was this particular day in the month of Chingam when Lord Vishnu took his fifth avatar as Vaamana, appeared in the kingdom of King Mahabali and sent him to nether world. People believe that it is on the last day, Tiruonam that the spirit of King Maveli visits Kerala, hence the day is marked by feast and festivities. Devotees of Maveli celebrate the golden era witnessed in Maveli's reign during Onam. To welcome their revered ruler, people lay flower mats (Pookalam) in the front courtyard, prepare a grand meal (Onasadya), dance, play and make merry. All this is done to impress upon King Mahabali that his people are prosperous and happy.
Well, whatever the myth says, it's a great festival cos you get toms of money, real good veg and no-veg food, plus everyone gathers together. This is the sort of thing that we do...

This is my first Onam that I am unable to take leave. Will have to rush to my aunt's place after work and then to my grans. Sigh, I hate to rush. Oh well, beggers can't be choosers.

Doctor's said dad's fine, thank god for that. He's back home resting. On mc until Monday.
Yay. I'm so happy. I have actually lost 3 kg. Got more to lose. Need to look, real good and sexy on my big day. Hehe.
Alright, now onto more general topics. I was reading Her World, and it related alot on people and how they react to things. By the way, this Her World is centuries old, I was reading it whilst waiting for my turn to buy something. Miscommunication seems to be everywhere. Messages are neither coded properly nor sent over with clarity. I guess thats how quarrels start. One party just simply doesn't understand another.
I'm gonna talk about an example. I know this person all my life and the only problem the person used to have was being unable to communicate and deliver the message without any intrudes. Quarrels were an everyday dosage. Somehow this person used to interpret the wrong signals and try to deny and justify. This can be a serious problem. It is considered a flaw. Something, where an action need to be taken.
Being unable to communicate is one thing, but to quarrel relentlessly is another. Not many people actually have the patience, tolerance and perseverance to continue the quarrel. Some just like to remain mum and try not to prolong it or worsen it knowing that the situation won't change. I'm one of them. I always remain mum. Its a damn bad habit, but I think I was worst off before. So anyways, like I said, not many people like to quarrel. So this is what I mean when a person's got difficulty communicating and absorbing the wrong signals, thats how the quarrels arise. Only one solution. Go see a doctor. It works. But, of course if it's done on purpose to irritate the other party then the person deserves a slap. A good tight slap. If that doesn't work, totally ignore the person. In my case, the person had seeked help from a doctor and is fine.
Oh yeah, and another thing, Happy Teacher's Day to All the teachers out there. Without you, we won't be where we are today.
